Crooked Rib is an all-female Muslim arts group based in Melbourne. They are currently holding an exhibition of their work alongside work by UK-based Aerosol Arabic in Melbourne.
Aerosol Arabic is a graffiti artist from the UK. He’s been experimenting and creating graffiti types based on Arabic characters. He was also in NY just after the 9/11 incident to show his support for the victims and to try close the gap between cultures.
Like many of us, I am not exposed to the Islamic arts much. This exhibition would be an interesting experience, an opportunity to have a look at contemporary Islamic art. Considering some of the unfair portrayals of Islamic culture, it’s only fitting that now the spotlight is turned on its art.
Who: Crooked Ribs and Aerosol Arabic
When: Everyday from October 2nd though ’till October 23rd
