The Ginger Cocktail Bar is a quiet haven during the week and a busy social spot for your weekend. Whenever you choose to go you’ll be delighted by the array of flavours on offer. A modern little bar situated in the heart of Fitzroy, dimly lit and kitted out with intimate seating, The Ginger Cocktail Bar is the perfect place for friends or romance.
I had the chance to enjoy three cocktails recommended by the creator and cocktail genius, the first of which was selected from the staff favourites list- The Hemingway Daiquiri. This sweet and sour concoction (made with a mixture of Cuban rum, grapefruit, cherry liquor and lime) was both fresh and balanced. Each flavour hit my palate leaving me with a zesty zing. (8.5) $17
The next treat was a Fusion Fizz. This was up there with my all time favourites: it was light and fruity, soft and delicate. I could taste each of the layered flavours and I was left with a lingering rose aftertaste. (9) $15
The lucky last named the Rasta Crusta drew me in with the idea that I would be having a slice of Jamaica. It did just that, I was taken away to a peaceful Carribean place. The unusual mixture combined fresh ginger juice, vanilla syrup, white creme de caco and lemon with 12-year-old appleton rum, with the rim of the glass coated in a house made orange sugar. I felt this could be my summer in a glass. (10) $16
Three decadent drinks later I felt very satisfied. I feel the vast cocktail list and ambiance of Ginger caters for all varieties of preference.
