‘When dancing, lost in techno trance, arms flailing gawky bez; then find you snagged on frowns, and slowly dawns: you’re jazzing to the beeptone of a life-support machine that marks the steady fading of your day-old baby daughter. And when midnight sirens, lead to blue flash road mash, stretchers covered heads, and slippy red macadam, and find you creeping neath the blankets, to snuggle close a mangled bird, hoping soon you too will be freezer drawered. Then welcome, ooh blue chemotherapy wig, welcome in Jam.’
The darkest of all dark Comedies. I’m sure some of you have already heard about this show by the twisted mind of Chris Morris (Brass eye, IT Crowd, Nathan Barley, Big Train).
Going on 11 years ago, Chris Morris presented a radio Series on the BBC Radio 1 called Blue Jam, a surreal ambit sketch comedy show that pushed the boundaries moral decency and total absurdity. Four years later he converted this tirade of darkness and decadence into the visual format.
Jam contains many of the sketches from the radio show, in surreal settings with creepy visual affects, a lot of the sketches have been lip-synced from the old radio show which adds to the uneasy feeling of the show. It is amazingly funny for our twisted minds and wonderfully satirical of the absurd world we live in. Chris Morris is the master of satire; his shows Brass Eye, Nathan Barley and The Day to Day marvellously poke fun at the idiocy of people and the DVD release even satires DVD releases. It is kind of anti-DVD packed full of purposely useless “extra features” for example each episode is followed by the same episode that has been remixed into an unwatchable format for your viewing pleasure. They are either in fast forward, upside down or so small you can’t see what’s going on. Inside this show you will find man marrying themselves, a syndrome affecting porn stars where they cum until they die, singing fat ladies in trees, forgivable rapists and anything else no one else could have ever thought of.
This is 5 star original comedy, show your kids this and make them cool!
You can get it from Amazon UK but you will need a multi region DVD player, or the program anydvd for your PC
