[Art Stuff] Artists on the road

A few months ago Darebin City Council commissioned four local graffiti artists to paint responsible drinking messages out the front of High Street, Northcote’s most popular bars. The murals aim to raise awareness about the dangers of adventurous road crossing under the influence of alcohol and the very realistic risks involved. We all know about the the dangers of driving drunk but according to the Northcote Leader; ‘154 pedestrians were killed or injured [crossing the road] and 1 in 3 had blood alcohol readings above 0.5.’

Remember folks, if you drink and walk make sure to use the bloody footpath.

WMSG’s own Racheal, Gadz and Maxcat were invited to paint on the day and were happy to raise awareness for the cause as well as seeing it as an opportunity to express street art in a positive light. Take a look at their work below.
