Julien and Romain are two French film makers who’ve come to Melbourne to write, shoot and edit an independent documentary all about the Melbourne street art scene. Come to a screening of Melbourne INK at Open Channel’s shed at docklands and you’ll also witness some live tunes and painting by Meggs, Rone, Reka, Phibs, Haha, Drew and Vexta.
‘It’s about the evolution of street art in Melbourne, and its protagonists. Some artists from different studios have been interviewed and followed during their performances in the city. This is their story. ‘Melbourne, INK.’ is presenting the most prominent figures of graffiti and stencil Art in Melbourne. Uncensored, the movie is highlighting the paradoxal situation where street art is illegal but widely used for the marketing of the city.’ – www.romainlevrault.com, 2009
