Throne is the latest addition to OCCUPY: Art in Strange Places, an exhibition currently on at Federation Square. As a part of Art In Strange Places, Melbourne artist Clare McCracken has transformed two toilet cubicles (one male, one female) in The Atrium at Federation Square in the opulent style of pre-revolutionary France.

Each one is complete wit sparkling silver trim, hand-painted wallpaper and ornate decorations; giving them the elegance of a bygone era. I’m just loving this idea as it puts function before form and translates art into every day life, also I’ve a major crush on most things 16th century France.

What: Throne exhibition

When: Now until Tuesday 23 June, 2009

Where: The atrium at Federation Square, Flinders Street, Melbourne
