For those unfamiliar with street art and graffiti it’d be normal to assume that the art form is only created outside, on walls and in public spaces. It would come as a big surprise then, to discover that artists leave their mark on other items such as wood, metal, canvas (doh!) and.. wait for it….

Vinyl records! If you think that these things are only made for music then check out the Spin That Thing exhibition at the Famous When Dead Gallery. With artworks by local and international artists specialising in different disciplines this is one exhibition that will make you feel good.

What: Spin That Thing

Who: Yuki Nakano (AUS), Martin Whatson (NOR), A1one (Iran), Papermonster (USA), Beastman (AUS).

When: Opening night May 22, 6pm onwards. Exhibition runs May 21 – May 31

Damage: Free

Where: Famous When Dead Gallery, 207 Victoria Street, West Melbourne

I work with my hands and brain to create and destroy. I love looking at something and thinking, “Oh, I can make that better”. My sketchbook, pencil, pen, markers and iPod are the things I can’t leave home without. I have a passion for street art, experimental films and sound, photography, graphic design and all genres of art be it contemporary, modern or classics. All in all, I like to make stuff good.
