U.S artists Martin Ontiveros, Kiyoshi Nakazawa and Bwana Spoon’s work can be found in Melbourne’s Outre gallery at the moment. Their work reminds me of children that look like angry balls of hate, presented in a stylistic, finger painted manner…
Kiyoshi Nakazawa was born in 1970; happily this makes him born under the sign of the dog. He spent his youth in Northern California but eventually moved to LA to study art. While going to school he rediscovered his love for the fighting arts and also spent many years working as a bar bouncer. He graduated from Art Centre College of Design with a BFA in Fine Art. He continues to reside in LA with his family. - Outré Gallery
Bwana Spoons was raised in the woods. He likes moss and Lego and monsters. When he was a little one he would draw detailed crayon renderings of all his favorite Star Wars figures. When he was older he lost them all in a battle with a mildew giant. He likes making zines and comics and paintings and silk-screened prints and smashing tile and making things with rainbows and animals. Over the years he has worked on and/or created several zines and comics. - Outré Gallery
Martin Ontiveros is apparently a painter and a living legend in Portland, Oregon. He is a wizard in training. Rock n’ Roll soldier, guided by the Hand of Iommi. Unrepentant metalhead. Defender of the faith. And also dad, toy designer and an illustrator of the Ricky Ricotta books written by Dav Pilkey. - Outré Gallery
