What we’ve all been waiting for! Semi-Permanent is coming to Melbourne!

Sydney has it, Brisbane has it, Perth has it, Auckland has it, and now the time has come for Melbourne. Design is Kinky has FINALLY decided to host a Semi-Permanent event in our über cool city.

After buying tickets to this year’s conference in Sydney, flying up there, blowing too much cash (in the city that is – from a Melburnian point of view – 2nd best), I opened up their program and, to my surprise, found on the backside of the brochure that my long and expensive journey could have been avoided. (Not that I wouldn’t have attended. Who am I trying to fool?!).

Mother Melbourne is excited! Here, we have so much incredible street art, all the finest artists, a chilled atmosphere and, not to be forgotten, air that isn’t sticky. And now we have Semi-Permanent as well.

The Sydney Semi-Permanent ‘09 was fantastic. A show to be proud of. Every genre of graphic design was represented at this year’s event. From handmade silk prints to hand-designed fonts, organic animations to mind-blowing special effects, model photo shoots to war zone pictures, street art to fine art. Everything that makes a graphic design geek go spastic with joy.

The Melbourne event is without doubt going to be as cool as Sydney’s, though the speakers will be different (which makes all us Melburnians pleased because then we can go again). Nothing has actually been announced yet, so the only thing I can pass on to you guys are the dates and the location. But that’s alright. At least we know that two amazing days with colours, shapes and mad ideas are not far away. Something that can make these rainy days and wintery weather a little more exciting..

Tickets are on sale now. Go to Semi-Permanent and find out how.
