People in Australia are noticeably becoming more interested in typography. You don’t have to be a graphic designer to know that Comic Sans is not funny and Helvetica dominates everything around us…
I say it has been a long time coming. I’ve seen speakers at Semi Permanent for years talk about new type-sets they’ve created and the philosophy behind the measurement of space between letters.
The printing press has become anitque, we are simplifying and going more computerised. These days if we want a typeface we just head to dafonts.com and download one for free. So how did font and typography get so interesting? To Sans Serif or not to Serif, that is the question!
“Go Font Ur Self is dedicated to exploring and pushing the diverse range of techniques employed in type design of past, present and future through original pieces of work from talented typographers worldwide.” -No Vacancy
