Equal love mebourne august 1st 2009

Imagine living in a world where you weren’t allowed to marry the one you love. That’s the reality for many same-sex couples in Australia and around the world. Equal Love is a nationwide campaign for same-sex marriage in Australia that aims to change public attitudes towards lesbian and gay relationships and put pressure on government to legislate for equal marriage rights. We’ve had the inquiry, now pass the bill!

‘Groups around the country are busy gearing up for large demonstrations on November 28 to launch the Year of Action for Same-Sex Marriage. The Australian Senate is due to release a landmark report on same-sex marriage two days earlier, Equal love intends on sending a clear message to the Government that the time for marriage equality is now.  Spread the word to friends, family and colleagues.’ – www.equallove.info, 2009

About The Author: Poppy Calhoun

I love portraiture and documentary photography. I keep telling myself I will have time to work on more personal art projects one day. Currently I’m working on a series of portraits for the We Make Stuff Good crew, which is coming soon, I promise Krystal! The documentation of Melbourne street art – in particular Sketch City and Don't Ban the Can – are a continuous and inspiring projects. I am also starting to shoot portraits for bands and personalities. Keep a look out for Simon Write & the Ecclective, and those crazy graph kids Juzzo and Spud Roc.
