Speakeasy is Melbourne’s most recent addition to the cinema circuit. On the verge of winter, Speakeasy are about to serve up a reminiscent summer notion with an auditory and visual feast combo. Last Hope is their upcoming show, and is a mash-up of of 16 short films with a spine-tingling soundtrack featuring the likes of: The Dirty Three, Mogwai, Sufjan Stevens, Explosions In The Sky, My Morning Jacket, Vetiver, and Kidman’s own band The Windy Hills.
Presented by Spunk Records & Andrew Kidman the already mind-blowing soundtrack and visual experience will be augmented by Kidman and band The Windy Hills providing a dynamic and evolving live score on the night.
Located within the monstrous and eclectic warehouse space known as 1000 £ Bend (cousin to our ol’ fave St. Jeromes) it’s by far the hippest cinematic experience to join the ranks, and they’ve got great burgers and nibbles.
Who: 1000 £ Bend Gallery/ Food Place and Cinema.
What: Alternative [to Hoyt's and the like] cinematic films and experience. The current show is Last Hope and mash-up of 16 short films, including a damn fine soundtrack.
Where: Speakeasy Cinema @ 1000 £ Bend, 361 Lt Lonsdale St, Melbourne
When: Sunday 28 March @ 7,30pm
Damage: $20/$25 from Moshtix
