For centuries artists and architects have used the theory of geometry to aid them in the use of proportion and scale in their creative works. Its application in the man-made world can be seen in hundreds of places including Ancient Egypt, Greece and India as well as in the paintings of Renaissance from artists like Da Vinci and Michelangelo.

Many of the properties of mathematical equations relating to geometry are also present in the natural world. Nature by Numbers is a brilliant short film about the relationship between geometry and nature. With beautifully rendered animation the video brings to life fractals and the fibonacci sequence and visualises their implications in nature. It’s definitely worth a watch, even just for the animation and music.
