One of the most dynamic photographers and mag editors in Japan, Yasumasa ‘YONE’ Yonehara played a vital part in bringing ‘kogyaru’ (Japanese schoolgirl) culture to the world stage through his work with the iconic Egg Magazine (think FRUiTS magazine…but with more tanning, makeup and blonde hair).

His signature ‘lo-fi sexy’ shots of Tokyo’s hottest models for Smart Girls magazine landed him in the major league. American Apparel and other big game players have since appropriated Yone’s instant Polaroid style, confirming his primary role in the crafting of a new genre of editorial photography.
