[Melbourne] Split Personalities by Nicole Tattersall and Megan Dell

split-personalities-med

As you may have already heard Nicole Tattersall has joined forces with fellow Melbourne artist Megan Dell for Split Personalities presented by Fuel Magazine. A duo art exhibition to be held at No Vacancy Gallery, opening on Thursday 18 of February and running until Friday 5 March 2010.

Currently we are in the process of creating a selection of pieces in a variety of mediums and methods from stencilling to illustrations and installations to mixed media. With a emphasis on using recycled materials as a base in which they are working upon, their works reflect an inspiration of ones man trash is a another man’s treasure, in this case women’s treasure. Both of us vary in styles and mediums in our own works, with swapping between different applications of creativity and contexts, which in turn are our own creative ‘Split Personalities’.

[Melbourne] Longboard Day

longboard-dayfeb2010

As a kid I never actually owned a skateboad but I used to borrow my neighbors and follow him and the boys around the neigbourhood. Must to angst of my parents I even dipped a toe into the Prahran bowl a couple of times. I was never much chop with the board but I do remember that feeling of nailing my first ollie and rail slid. Now that I’m a bit older, with more fear of broken bones, I have found the perfect skating situation: Long bording. It looks so smooth and free flowing, just the pace I am after.

On February 6th, skateboarders around the globe will celebrate the pure exhilaration, creativity, and spirit of one of the most altenative popular sports.

[Melbourne] Kiri Joyce at the Wesley Anne

kiri-copy

Kiri Joyce is a singer / songwriter / keyboardist with bite,  her raw lyrics are  delivered with a voice that is plunged from her soul and melts your insides like butter. Both times I have seen her I have left feeling touched by the way in which she lays her heart and soul onto the stage, knowing it won’t be long till I see her play again. The lovely Wesley Ann in Northcote provides the perfect red velvet, cosy backdrop to experience such a truly beautiful, original performance.
