To celebrate Leeloo’s 2nd birthday and their support for Australian artists, over 30 creative ladies and lads of oz are all busy currently creating works for Once Upon, a fairy tale themed exhibition to be opened at aMBUSH Gallery on Thursday 19 November.
Each artist has been allocated their own fairy tale to interpret into four original and new artworks all of an A5 size to exhibit. I’ve been given ‘The Golden Goose’ not to be mistaken for ‘The Goose That Layed The Golden Egg’, which has been a bit of fun and just the other day I packaged up the works and sent them off care of the fairy godmother; Australia Post.
Artworks will be available for sale, and from Friday to Sunday and there will be a Leeloo “pop-up store” for you to have a hands-on look at some of their gorgeous online goodies and to even buy some to take home with you.

People in Australia are noticeably becoming more interested in typography. You don’t have to be a graphic designer to know that Comic Sans is not funny and Helvetica dominates everything around us…

Knitters from all age and skill levels have been gathering at a variety of venues around Kings Cross to participate in I Heart Kings X, one of Sydney’s most engaging public arts projects to date. This is the last chance to get involved with only two weekends left of knitting circles until the knitting pieces are installed on various trees, poles and landmarks around Kings Cross.

Simon Lovelace presents a new collection of works for 2009 at blank_space gallery in Sydney. Influenced by pop art culture and surreal narrative, his work explores themes of mortality, sexuality and the taboo. His surreal pop-art inspired works on exposed board with lush glass coat finishes are definitely worth a look.
