[Melbourne] Electric Church Festival at Noise Bar

electric-church

The first Electric Church Festival will kick off at the Noise Bar in Brunswick on 28 November. The one day festival is a mixed bag of local and international musical goodness with bands from Egypt, Northcote, Sweden and of course, Brunswick! What better way to spend a Saturday than having a few brews and treating your ears to some lesser heard talent?

If you have been the the Noise Bar before then expect something else. The Electric Church organisers have been working hard on this new event to create the festival feel. As well as music there’s also Sketch City pens and papers, chill areas, themed stages, food stalls, Mountain Goat Beer promos and other comps plus art installations by Happy Hours.

Who: Mushroom Giant, Rainbird (Filming live set), In Color (EP launch), Anna Salen, Monica & The Explosion (Sweden),
Yasser Nassr (Egypt), A Dead Forest Index, Blankface Distortion, Chinless Kings, Preston Perche, Yakks, Parmy Dhillon And The Electric Stallions, DJ Twist, K Time, Ampoule and more to be announced!

[Melbourne] Sketch the Rhyme

rumpunchsketchcity-flier

Another huge event at Sketch City’s Dazzeland studios is coming up. If you love hip hop, free-style and sketching pictures to the beat then it is time to get out of your bedroom and join in the fun at Dazzeland studios.

Sketch the Rhyme, that’s what these Sydney kids do: A bunch of MC’s battle it out against each other to guess what a group of speed sketchers are drawing. The tables also turn when the Sketchers battle it out against each other, swapping squiggles and challenging the other sketcher to make a picture out of it.

If you know Mr Squiggle, it’s like that but with a hip hop back beat. Check out this sound video for a demo:

[Melbourne] Moonee Valley Youth Fest Photos

moonee-yalley-youth-fest-20-of-1

Some of the WMSG crew were down at the Moonee Valley Youth Festival supporting the guys from Sketch City last Sunday. I took a few snaps mainly of the Urban stage. I was most impressed with the B-boys, especially the crotch-grabbing 10 year old from Geelong.
